The XL2594-5.0 series regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator capable of driving 0.5A loads with excellent line and load regulation.
The XL2594-5.0 series operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, thus allowing the use of smaller size filter components than would be required for lower frequency switching regulators. Due to its high efficiency, copper traces on the PCB are typically the only heat sinking required.
Other features include an output voltage tolerance of ±4% at ±15% of the oscillator frequency over all input voltage and output load conditions. External shutdown is included with a typical 85 uA standby current. Self-protection features include a two-stage frequency reduction current limit
for the output switch and an over-temperature shutdown for full protection under fault conditions.
