Overview

Product details

The XL2594-12 series regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator capable of driving 0.5A loads with excellent line and load regulation. 8-lead PDIP and 8-lead surface mount SOP packages are available.Requiring only minimal external components, the regulators are simple to use and feature internal frequency compensation, fixed frequency oscillators, and improved line and load regulation specifications.

The XL2594-12 series operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, thus allowing the use of smaller filter components than would be required for lower frequency switching regulators. Due to its high efficiency, heat dissipation requires only copper heatsinking on the printed circuit board.

Other features include an output voltage tolerance of ±4% and ±15% of the oscillator frequency under all input voltage and output load conditions. External shutdown is included with a typical 85uA standby current. Protection features include a two-stage frequency reduction current limit for the output switch and thermal shutdown for full protection under fault conditions.
