Overview

Product details

The XD7221 is a compact serial input/output common cathode display driver that connects a microprocessor (μP) to a 7-segment digital LED display with up to 8 bits, a bar chart display, or 64 individual LED displays. The chip includes a BCD code-B decoder, a multiscan circuit, segments, and digital drivers, as well as 8x8 static RAM to store each digit.
Only one external resistor is needed to set the segmented current of all leds. The 7221 is compatible with SPIT, QSPI ™, and Microfilament ™ and has segment drivers with limited conversion rates to reduce EMI. A convenient 4-wire serial interface connects to all common μP. Individual numbers can be addressed and updated without rewriting the entire display. The XD7221 also allows the user to choose code B to decode or not to decode for each number.
These devices include a 150μa low-power shutdown mode, analog and digital brightness control, a scan limit register that allows users to display 1 to 8 digits, and a test mode that forces all leds to light up.
